In collaboration with GingerWork, we developed a customized DJ booth in 2021 that featured over 60 meters of LED strips, which were individually soldered and installed inside and outside of the base. The initial design was intended for a private event on Thailand’s Ko Phangan Island, and later it was installed again, this time with the top part, for the Colours of Love Festival in March 2022.
The creative process, woodworking, 3D printing of individual parts, and structural pieces were all led by Mark Harris and Trang Vu at GingerWork. Meanwhile, bqbstudio took charge of the electronics and technical design, as well as the programming and live operation.
The entire structure, including the top part, utilizes 108 meters of WS2811 LED strips, 14 universes of ArtNet, 2 nodes, custom power injection boxes, and connectors. It is controlled using MADRIX.
